In the Swedish town of Knislinge, collectors Marika and Charles Wachtmeister opened The Wanås Foundation a continually evolving sculpture park, that shows an impressive collection of site-specific installations, made by some of the most renowned contemporary artists of today such as Jenny Holzer, Marina Abramović, Antony Gormley, Jeppe Hein and Robert Wilson.

Originally founded in 1987, Wanås Konst has a strong emphasis on its innovative educational program, inviting visitors to interact with the pieces installed and take part in participatory works that are to be found in the estate. The main exhibition space is open all year round and is always worth a visit, no matter if it’s a Swedish summer day or in winter, when everything is covered in a thick white blanket of snow.

Largely made up of materials such as bronze and stone, surprises can also be found in the shape of a wooden treehouse that effortlessly blend into its surrounding landscape or a contemporary spot-the-artwork puzzle that is just waiting to be discovered.
